WARC Travel Grant Benefits
The WARC Travel Grant provides up to $1,500 for travel costs and an additional $1,500 as a stipend.
This grant allows you to visit libraries, archives, research sites, or collaborate with other scholars in Africa.
Eligibility for the WARC Travel Grant
To apply, you must meet the following criteria:
- Be a West African national.
- Priority will be given to applicants affiliated with West African colleges, universities, or research institutions.
How to Apply for the WARC Travel Grant
Your application must include the following documents:
- A 50-80 word abstract of your proposed activity, clearly stating your purpose.
- A research description (up to six double-spaced pages) that explains why the travel is necessary.
- A proposed budget for your travel.
- Your curriculum vitae detailing your research and teaching record.
- A photocopy of your passport showing you are a West African national.
- A recommendation letter from a professor or professional colleague.
If you are visiting another institution, include an invitation from the host institution.
If you are travelling to consult archives, describe the collections you plan to consult and explain their relevance to your research.
For graduate students, a recommendation letter from your research supervisor is required.
