OOU Admission Requirements for all Programs 2024/2025

General Admission Requirements for OOU

For a start, you need to have at least 5 credit passes in your O’level result (WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB) including English and Mathematics not more than two (2) sittings before you can study at OOU. OOU does not accept second-choice applicants, so you need to choose OOU as your first-choice institution in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) or the Direct Entry (DE) form.

UTME Admission Requirements for OOU

If you are applying for admission into OOU through UTME, you need to score at least 180 in the UTME, which is the minimum cut-off mark for OOU.   • A Diploma (HND or ND) in a relevant field to your course of study, with at least a lower credit grade.
  • An NCE with at least a merit pass for courses under the faculty of education.
  • Two A-level passes in the relevant subjects for your course of study.

You also need to purchase the DE form through the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and OOU and submit your credentials to the Academic Affairs Office for verification.

OOU Admission Requirements for Computer Science, Mathematics, and Statistics

(a) Candidates seeking admission into the B.Sc. degree program in Computer Science, Mathematics, and Statistics must satisfy the University and Faculty requirements. The minimum SSCE/GCE/NECO qualification for entry is five Credit passes including English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Agricultural Science/Economics/Geography.

(b) Candidates with a GCE A-Level pass in Mathematics or equivalent may be considered for exemption from some first-year Mathematics courses.

(c) Candidates with a Diploma in Data Processing (DDP) from the university with at least a Lower Credit classification can be admitted directly into year two of the degree program.

OOU Admission Requirements for Computer Science

  • (a) Candidates seeking the Computer Science degree must meet University and Faculty standards. The minimum SSCE/GCE/NECO requirement is five Credit passes including English Language, Mathematics, Physics, and any two credits from Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science, and Geography.
  • (b) GCE A-Level Mathematics passes may qualify candidates for exemption from certain first-year Mathematics courses.
  • (c) Holders of a Diploma in Data Processing (DDP) or equivalent from an accredited higher institution with at least a Lower Credit can be admitted into year two of the program.

How to Apply for Admission into OOU

To apply for admission into OOU, you need to follow these steps:

  • Visit the OOU admission portal and click on CHECK ADMISSION STATUS to confirm your admission offer.
  • Pay a non-refundable acceptance fee of Seventy-five Thousand Naira (₦ 75,000.00) only through any of the University Point of Sales (POS) on any of the University campuses or online using your ATM card.
  • Attend the orientation programme and matriculation ceremony as scheduled by the university. Proceed to the Academic Affairs Office for your first verification and your Faculty for the second verification, with the originals and one set of photocopies of the following documents: Verification/Personal Data Form

    • UTME Score Result
    • Post UTME Result
    • O’level Result
    • Diploma Result and other entry requirements (for DE Candidates only)
    • Birth Certificate
    • Tax Clearance Certificate OR N10,000.00 Ogun State Tax Receipt

    • Complete your registration and clearance online, and print out your admission letter and other documents.
