The National Universities Commission (NUC) resource inspection teams visited and heaped praises on Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai’s management for its thorough preparations for the upcoming launch of the Faculty of Law and Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences in the 2024-2025 academic session
The delegation, comprising the Director of Academic Planning from NUC, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, a Professor of Law, and distinguished Professors of Pharmaceutical Sciences from repureputable universities across the country, were warmly welcomed by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Abu Kasim Adamu, at the University’s Management Meeting Room.
During the reception, the Vice Chancellor extended gratitude to Mr. Chris Jibreel Mayaki, the Acting Executive Secretary of the Commission, for assembling such a formidable team to evaluate the two programs. He emphasized the University’s commitment to upholding the standards set by the Commission.
The NUC delegations, in their individual statements, commended the University’s forward-thinking approach in establishing the two faculties. Mallam Abubakar Girie, the Director of Academic Planning at NUC, highlighted the impressive features of the Faculty of Law complex under construction at IBB University, Lapai. He described it as a model for Nigerian universities, emphasizing its comprehensive facilities such as the Moot Court, Law Clinic, Judge’s Chamber, Law Library, and e-law Library, along with an ultra-modern auditorium and spacious classrooms.
Professors Maxwell Michael and Ibrahim Mohammed Sule, leaders of the Law and Pharmaceutical Sciences faculties respectively, praised the University’s adherence to the regulations governing the establishment and commencement of academic programs. They cautioned against the rush to launch programs without proper NUC inspection, citing instances where universities faced closure due to non-compliance with standards.
Both leaders encouraged the University Management to maintain its momentum and expressed confidence that the outcome of the inspection would be favorable for the successful launch of the programs.
In his closing remarks, the Registrar, Alhaji Idris Saleh Kusherki, thanked the team members for their commendations and assured them of the University Management’s commitment to implementing professional advice to ensure a smooth commencement of the two programs.
The resource inspection exercise included visits to the ongoing construction sites of the Faculty of Law and Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, as well as a comprehensive assessment of human resources and essential facilities.
