The National Board for Arabic and Islamic Studies (NBAIS) has officially announced the results of the Senior Arabic and Islamic Secondary School Certificate Examination (SAISSCE) Internal for the 2024 examination period. Conducted from July 18 to August 3, 2024, this examination witnessed a significant increase in candidacy, with a total of 40,753 candidates registered—a noteworthy rise from the 33,922 candidates in 2023.
This year’s examination also featured a diverse representation of academic tracks. Among the total candidates, 9,399 individuals pursued studies in science, reflecting a growing interest in scientific disciplines within the context of Arabic and Islamic education. Furthermore, 4,084 candidates specialized in Tahfeez and Tajweed, indicating the continued importance of Quranic studies and the proper articulation of the Arabic language.
The announced results are not merely statistics; they signify the achievements and aspirations of thousands of students dedicated to their educational journeys in Arabic and Islamic studies. The increase in candidates suggests a burgeoning recognition of the relevance and rigor of these fields in today’s academic landscape. The overall pass rate for the examination stands at 71%, with students achieving credit in five major subjects. Notably, the pass rate for science subjects is 62%, indicating a significant area for improvement. Furthermore, the Kano Zone has emerged as the top-performing region, boasting the highest percentage of credit passes in both Tahfeez and Tajweed, showcasing the effectiveness of educational strategies in that locale.
