About Kogi State Polytechnic

Kogi State Polytechnic, founded in 1993, is a vibrant institution located in the heart of Lokoja, Kogi State, Nigeria. Owned and managed by the state, the polytechnic has become a hub for technical and vocational education. By 2007, it had earned accreditation from the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), enabling it to offer National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) certificates in various fields, including Art and Printing, Business, Engineering, Finance, and Science Computing.

In December 2009, Kogi State Polytechnic took a significant step forward by presenting 16 programs for accreditation to the NBTE. These programs, primarily from the new schools of Engineering and Environmental Technology, Applied Science, and Management Studies, were aimed at expanding the institution’s academic offerings and maintaining high educational standards.

A notable highlight in the polytechnic’s history occurred in October 2005 when the then-governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, approved the disbursement of N80 million to the institution. This financial boost was announced during the polytechnic’s first convocation ceremony, which celebrated the achievements of 21,646 graduates from the 1992/93 to 2003/2004 academic sessions.
