The Governing Council, Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) has, during its 6th Extraordinary Meeting, approved one year extension to the tenures of office for Bursar, Dr Daniel Anjola Wilson, and University Librarian, Professor Abiodun Olaide lyoro.
The extension was in consonance with Section 5, Subsection 5 of the Universities (Miscellaneous Provision) (Amendment) Act, 2012, which grants the Governing Council authority to extend the tenure of key university officers under specific circumstances that support the institution’s stability and strategic needs.
According to a statement issued by the Registrar of FULafia, Malam Nuradeen Abdu, the Council in extending the Bursar’s tenure, looked at the need for continuity in the University’s financial and administrative operations, completing the ongoing automation and digitisation processes in the bursary and significance of allowing the newly constituted FULafia Governing Council to acclimatise to the University’s frameworks and ongoing financial strategies.
The statement said that Wilson provided an invaluable leadership in the financial administration of FULafia, strengthened financial operations and ensured fiscal responsibility in the financial system.
Consequently, said the statement, the Bursar’s tenure of office, initially expected to end on May 5, 2025, has been extended and it would now terminate on May 4, 2026.
Similarly, in extending the tenure of the University Librarian, the statement said that the Governing Council considered the need for continuity in the University’s academic administration, completion of some essential projects, including the e-resource library for faculties and mentoring for the incoming librarian and seamless transition.
The statement praised lyoro for his exceptional services and demonstration of innovative leadership, citing his pivotal role that led to the gaining of full accreditation for 98 per cent of the University’s programmes and development of e- libraries for faculties.
The council, therefore, approved one year extension of office for lyoro from July 2, 2025, to July 1, 2026, to allow him to make further contributions to the University’s development.
Congratulations!
