EKSU calls for calm over increment in fees

EKSU releases admission lists on JAMB CAPS, 2024/2025

The management of Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti, urges all stakeholders, especially students, to remain calm regarding the recent adjustments to tuition fees for prospective students in the 2024/2025 academic session.

After a thorough assessment of the country’s economic situation and the need to maintain high-quality services, the university’s Governing Council has decided to implement a modest increase in fees for new students, starting in the 2024/2025 academic year. This adjustment aims to supplement the monthly government subvention, which has been increased by the Ekiti State Government under the leadership of His Excellency, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, who is also the university’s Visitor.

It is important to note that operational costs at the university have risen significantly—by approximately 200%—due to inflation. However, the Governing Council has opted to increase fees for new students by only 50%. This decision is critical to ensuring that the university can maintain high-quality facilities and services, keeping it competitive with universities both nationally and internationally.

To clarify, this fee increase only affects new students; the fees for returning students will remain unchanged. Additionally, the acceptance fees for new students will not be affected, even as other institutions raise their own fees.

It is worth mentioning that the fees at Ekiti State University are still among the most affordable compared to many state and federal universities, as well as the fees charged by various private secondary schools across the country.

The management of Ekiti State University expresses appreciation to His Excellency, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, for the increased monthly subvention and emphasizes that this decision by the Governing Council was made in good faith to support the state government’s efforts.
