Bingham University Receives Partners From Liverpool School Of Tropical Medicine & Light Consortium, United Kingdom

Bingham University Cut Off Mark for all Courses 2024/2025

The management of Bingham University recently received its partners from the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine and the LIGHT Consortium,United Kingdom.

Receiving the delegate on behalf of the Management of the University in his office, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Haruna Kuje Ayuba expressed delight with the team on their visit the University. The Vice-Chancellor stated that the collaboration between the two institutions was making a tremendous impact in the University Community and the society at large.

In his remarks, the leader of the delegation, the Pro-Vice Chancellor for Partnerships Prof. Bertie Squire, stated that the purpose of the visit was to further strengthen the longstanding relationship between the two universities and to discuss ways of introducing new programs for further research collaborations.

Also speaking via zoom, the Pro-Vice Chancellor for Education Prof Isabel Lucas elaborated on the options that would ensure successful partnership and mutual benefits. She stated that the proposed partnership which involved an exchange program may be scheduled for mid-February to mid-May (3 months), with the possibility of extending for an additional three months from June to August 2025.

Students would be expected to undertake various courses with varying credit loads. A mandatory course on project preparation, dedicated to fostering research skills, would be required. The partnership emphasizes flexibility, particularly in the dissertation module. Students may choose to complete their dissertation either in Nigeria or at LSTM, potentially reducing costs for those opting for a shorter stay of 3 months at LSTM. Students would begin and conclude their studies at Bingham University, with a 3-month exchange at LSTM in the middle of the academic year, taking advantage of the favourable spring and summer months.

The partnership is expected to provide scholarship opportunities for students and simplified document access for staff and students that will participate in the programs.

Highlights of the visit were Light Consortium visit to Zankli Research Center where they interacted with staff, pictures exhibition at the Senate Building aimed at educating the university community about tuberculosis and presentation of certificates to participants from the community and staff members from Zankli Research Centre.

Giving the closing remarks, the Registrar, Mr. Daburi Bello Misal expressed gratitude to the team for their continued commitment to the partnership and expressed optimism for a brighter future .
